Welcome Rabbi Alpert

CBD Welcomes Rabbi Jaymee Alpert

At the March 25, 2018 meeting of our members, congregants voted by an overwhelming margin to approve the Search Committee’s selection of Rabbi Jaymee Alpert as our new Senior Rabbi. Moments later, Michael Leitner, chair of our pulpit committee, reached Rabbi Alpert and she confirmed she will be our next Senior Rabbi. She comes to us from Congregation Kneses Tifereth Israel (KTI) in Port Chester, New York, with 15+ years of congregational leadership experience.

Rabbi Alpert is excited to bring her energy, creative thinking, and desire to serve the synagogue as well as the broader community to Congregation Beth David. She is passionate about the opportunities that CBD offers, particularly with regard to engaging people in various forms of Jewish life, both traditional and innovative. She is dedicated to engagement, education, pastoral counseling, and tikkun olam. Her strengths and core beliefs revolve around building community and making Judaism accessible for all who are interested, regardless of level of knowledge or observance. Over the past 13 years as the rabbi at Congregation KTI, she has found success in helping people connect to the Jewish tradition through a modern framework, increasing the feeling of belonging, and forming partnerships with local synagogues and churches to strengthen the community at large. Rabbi Alpert is the co-creator of Neshama Body and Soul, leading monthly Friday evening sessions combining exercise with prayer, helping participants connect their bodies to their souls.

She was ordained by The Jewish Theological Seminary and holds Master’s degrees in Jewish Education and Jewish Women’s Studies.

She will be relocating from Port Chester with her husband Danny Kischel and their dog Monte. The CBD Board and Transition Committee volunteers look forward to welcoming them to our community and ensuring the success of this next chapter in Congregation Beth David’s story.
