Staying Connected During These Difficult Times

Dear Friend,

During this difficult and constantly changing time of social distancing and isolation, I want you to know that Congregation Beth David is here for you.  We are working to move as many of our offerings as possible online, so that we will be able to connect with one another and to be in community, even when we must remain physically apart.

If you would like to talk over the phone or by video with me (one-on-one or with your partner and/or family), please contact Jillian Cosgrave:  info@beth-david.org who will schedule a time.  If you are interested in a group video chat, I will be hosting one on Tuesday evening (3/17) 5-6, and a virtual happy hour on Thursday evening (3/19) 5-6, where you are welcome to join me with the beverage of your choice. Both the individual and the group chats will offer the chance to check in and to connect.

In addition, we are moving our weekday minyan (Sunday mornings at 9:30 and Monday-Thursday evenings at 7) to Zoom.  While this is not a traditional minyan, during this time, we are looking for creative ways to bring people together without being in the same physical space.  As long as there are at least ten people who log on for minyan, we will hold a complete service (including Kaddish).  I want to thank our dedicated minyan leaders for being so flexible.  Here is the log on information:

This Friday morning (3/20) at 11:30, I will host a Shabba-Tot on Zoom geared toward families with children, ages 0-5, although everyone is welcome!  We are still in the process of figuring out how we can offer a Shabbat morning service online, and we will be in touch with that information as well as when more of our offerings become available online.  In the meantime, please reach out to friends using a video chat app or the phone – it is very important that we stay connected to one another.

I look forward to ‘seeing’ you.

Warmly,

Rabbi Jaymee Alpert
