CBD Is Joining the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Campbell

Where:  Virtual and In-person
When:  Saturday, July 11

“Why I Relay” Read the Stories

Relay for Life of Campbell is a community fundraising event to support the American Cancer Society where teams keep a member walking the track for 24 hours to represent how cancer never sleeps and neither will we.  However, this year due to COVID-19, the event will kick off with a virtual 12 hour event followed by additional activities in August leading up to the Closing Ceremony on September 9.  Our goal is to raise $10,000 as a team.

The event is structured to celebrate our cancer survivors, remember those whom we have lost, honor those who are currently battling it, and educate the community on how we can fight back against this disease.  Team Congregation Beth David will be doing the following to support the event on July 11:

  • Celebrating our survivors by collecting photos for the virtual survivor lap. If you are a survivor, please send Lori Kahn a photo of you holding a sign with the type of cancer and # of years survived. You can be alone or with your caregivers. Due June 30!
  • Remembering and honoring those members whom we’ve lost from CBD with virtual luminaria dedications. We will be collecting honorees from our team members to be part of the luminaria slide show, but if you would like to make a special dedication (with or without a photo), please go to our team webpage (linked below) or any other team member’s page and choose ‘Dedicate a Luminaria’;
      • $10 minimum donation includes their name and your dedication
      • For an additional $5 ($15 total donation) gets a photo of your loved one that can be added (send photo by June 30 to Lori Kahn after making the donation)
  • Remembering and honoring those members whom we’ve lost from CBD with a collage of their photos and virtual luminaria dedications.
  • Walking as a team (socially distant, of course) around CBD (time to be determined).
  • Hosting a virtual community havdalah ceremony; may also gather in person.

Our team goal is to raise $10,000 for American Cancer Society in order to support the services they provide to cancer patients and families and valuable research to fight back against future diagnoses.
