Participate in various social action projects at our annual community-wide Mitzvah Day. Whatever you are interested in, there is a group or someone special that could use a couple hours of your time. 

Please bring some of these needed items with you on the day of the event or drop them in collection box in the entry way to the synagogue.* 

  • Grey or black sweatshirts and sweatpants – no hoods, no logos, no drawstrings; new or used; adult and kids sizes. 
  • Non-perishable food for Second Harvest Food Bank 
  • Bring your own bikes for maintenance and simple repairs and functional bicycles that you’d like to donate.

Opportunities to donate to various non-profits. Be sure to bring some cash!

Assembling Blessing Bags for CBD members to hand out to homeless and people in need – Ria Friedman

Creating gift bags for children visiting incarcerated parents through Friends Outside – Andrea Linder

Creating flannel blankets for home-bound and homeless people – Bob Bankirer

Writing letters for American soldiers and designing art cards for Chai House – Dorene Kastelman & Judy Holtzman

Cleaning the creek at Calabazas Park – Lori Kahn

Bicycle repairs and asking for bicycle donations for Community Cycles of California – Arye Green

Preparing and serving meals at CityTeam with a Christian and Muslim group through Abrahamic Alliance International – Iris Bendahan
