From The Ten Commandments to The Ten Amendments:

From The Ten Commandments to The Ten Amendments: A Jewish re-reading of the U.S. Bill of Rights

Thursday, August 6, 7:30 – 9:00 p.m.
Jewish Educator Aviv Matzkin will lead us on a close reading of the Ten Commandments, revealing a deep structural pattern, which gives these commandments new meaning and helps us understand why these specific ten were chosen for Mount Sinai. A similar method of careful analysis will then be used to uncover a similar pattern in the First 10 Amendments to the U.S. Constitution, and helping us to interpret a possible hidden message for sustaining a vibrant democracy.

Aviv has been teaching in congregations and Jewish day schools, throughout the Bay Area Jewish community for over 25 years. He’s an alumnus of South Peninsula Hebrew Day School, a graduate (and later, a teacher) of Beth David’s Hebrew High School, studied economics and comparative literature at UC San Diego, and Hebrew literature at Columbia University. He currently studies with precocious middle-school students at Gideon Hausner Jewish Day School. To connect online  https://zoom.us/j/95023269463?pwd=bDVSeGprQjZHNzlmL01GMVlEQzdOZz09 To connect by phone, call (669) 900-6833, Meeting ID: 950 2326 9463, Password: 150859
