From Interim Principal

Dear CBD Families,

Shalom!!!

My name is Rabbi Stacy Petersohn, I am the new interim principal of the Religious School.  Here is a little bit about me:  I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area’s Jewish community.  At my home synagogue, I participated in a variety of programs including religious school, junior choir, Purim shpiels, Midrasha of the East Bay, and BBYO.  I love the South Bay community, everything it has to offer, and am honored to return home to serve it.

Right now, we are hard at work getting things ready for the 2019-2020 school year to start.  Here are some of the programs we are working on:

  • Religious school for Junior Gan (Pre-Kindergarten/4-year olds) through 7th graders.
  • “It Is Not In Heaven”, a teen class focused on hot topics for 8th through 12th graders.  A teacher and student co-created class, “It Is Not In Heaven” will center around the important issues of today and how Jewish tradition approaches them.
  • Guide for the Spiritually Perplexed Parent, a class for parents to start learning about connecting spiritually with themselves, their children, and the world around them.

I am excited for these programs that are currently in formation, but we also need your help.  September 15th is our first day of religious school, and it is approaching fast.  For us do our best work in preparing for the start of school, we need each of you to sign up your children.  If you have any questions about registration for your child(ren) or need a new copy of the forms, please contact our education administrator, Wendy Askenas, at (408) 257-3333 or at askenas@beth-david.org.

Finally, there is an event on August 8th at 7:30 pm in the Mercaz for me to get a chance to meet all of you.  I hope to see all of you there!!

If you have any questions, or would like to get in touch before August 8th, please contact me at (408) 257-3333 or at petersohn@beth-david.org.

Kol tuv,

Rabbi Stacy Petersohn
