ShabbaTaf
We are very sorry but our ShabbaTaf program has been cancelled until further notice. Please refer to Pajama Shabbat for services for tots.
Haverim Service
Saturdays (Twice a month) 10:30-11:30 AM
A child-friendly Shabbat service for kids Kindergarten - 3rd grade which includes songs, stories, movement and Kiddush. Most months Haverim meets twice per month. When it does the focus of one meeting is more towards K-1 (called K’tanim) and the focus of the other is more towards 2nd-3rd (called G’dolim and led by Davida Adelberg). If you come a little early, your child is welcome to carry a stuffed torah in the main service processional (usually between 10:10-10:20) Schedule of 2007-2008 services
Youth Congregation
Saturdays (most) 10:00 AM – 11:45 AM
Our Youth Congregation is led by Emily Isaacs and is conducted by fourth through seventh graders. The service provides an interactive and informal worship experience on Saturday morning. In addition to traditional T’filah, the students participate in torah readings (through Torah Readers Club) and also discuss topics inspired both by the Parshat HaShavuah (Portion of the Week) and by contemporary attitudes and current events. Participation in Youth Congregation is highly, highly recommended for Bar or Bat Mitzvah. [Youth Services Requirements] Schedule of 2007-2008 services
Shir Shabbat
Every Fourth Friday at 8:00 pm
A SERVICE OF SONG, SPIRIT AND CELEBRATION!
Join us on the fourth Friday of every month for a rousing, rhythmic Shabbat service!
Shlomo Carlebach was known as the Singing Rabbi and he wrote many well-known Hebrew songs. He also created a new way of chanting the Friday night kabbalat Shabbat service. Many people have found this to be a very spiritual, dynamic service. One person said, “It instantly opened my eyes to what, for the first time ever, I perceived as genuine prayer.”
Beth David has been using the Carlebach melodies on the fourth Friday night of every month for some time now, and the participation from teens and the Beth David community has been outstanding.
Come check out the more intimate seating and a Friday night siddur that emphasizes understanding, kavanah, and spirituality. We promise you will be energized and inspired! One of our Hebrew High teens said, “This is the best Shabbat service I have ever been to - I am planning on coming with my friends every month.”
There is always a wonderful oneg with lots of scrumptious treats following services. The community is invited to be a part of this monthly celebration!
Holiday Service Times
Special services in celebration of Jewish holidays are held in the evening and morning, as appropriate. Worship times and special programs are announced in advance from the bimah, the weekly Shabbat bulletin, the Mid Month Mailer, and in the STAR monthly newsletter.
