Parashat Ki Tissa

Haftarah: 1 Kings 18:1-39, page 548

  1. (31:18-32:6) While God is giving Moses the two tablets of the commandments, the Israelites despair of Moses’ return, and demand that Aaron make a “god” for them. The result is the Golden Calf.
  2. (32:7-14) God tells Moses what the people are doing, and threatens to destroy them. Moses pleads, and God relents.
  3. (32:15-35) Moses breaks the tablets. The worshipers of the calf are put to death. Moses intercedes for the rest of the people.
  4. (33:1-11) Moses learns that God will no longer dwell in their midst.
