JEWEL – Jewish Experiential Learning

Register for the 2017/2018 school year


For 4th – 7th graders

Open to both CBD members and the Jewish Community.

Hebrew: Offers an opportunity for CBD students to continue their Hebrew education and provides and introductory Hebrew introduction for students in the community.

Judaica: Offers students six rotating categories of Jewish studies ranging from art, social justice, debate

Where students go to “experience” Judaism.

We want to give every Jewish child an opportunity to experience Judaism in a fun, nurturing learning environment.

When is JEWEL?
JEWEL classes are on most Wednesdays from 4:00 – 6:15pm.
The program is broken into six, four-week-long sessions.

How are the JEWEL classes structured?
 The JEWEL class is broken into two sessions:
4:00 – 5:00pm Hebrew for ALL – Students are placed in classes based on their current knowledge of Hebrew and move to more challenging classes as they gain proficiency. Beginners welcome.

5:00 – 5:15pm Snack

5:15 – 6:15pm Exploring Judaica – Students choose from six unique, experiential Judaica classes. These classes will include a variety of topics such as:

  • Art
  • Social Justice
  • Debate
  • Etc.

Is there a cost associated with JEWEL?
Yes, the costs are:
$150/Per session
$750/All six sessions

What if I want my child to have a Bar/Bat Mitzvah? 
JEWEL is on part of our overall Jewish Core Program (JCore). JCore consisted of traditional Jewish education on Sundays and the JEWEL Program on Wednesday. If you would like your child to pursue having a Bar/Bat Mitzvah, please email us.
