The primary purposes of the Beth David Sisterhood are to support the Beth David Religious School and the Beth David community. Affiliated with the Women's League for Conservative Judaism, Sisterhood offers many programs and activities throughout the year, including an annual Membership Dinner, a Selichot Ice Cream Social, a square dance, the Chanukah boutique, Sisterhood Shabbat, Yad L'Kol Volunteer Dinner, and the Torah Fund Brunch. Specific functions to support the Religious School are held during holidays and throughout the year. Sisterhood also provides refreshment for the Kabbalat Shabbat Oneg and the Kiddush following Shabbat morning services when there is no specific host (e.g., a Bar/Bat Mitzvah family).
Members enjoy personal and social as well as educational and spiritual benefits. Service to the congregation, Religious School, and Israel are aspects of a program which involves its members in an atmosphere of camaraderie and dedication within the context of traditional Conservative Judaism. It is easy to become involved with Sisterhood. Membership in Sisterhood is free for any woman during her first year of synagogue membership. New members are always welcome and encouraged to attend any Sisterhood function... more info
The purpose of the Men's Club is to meet and make friends with other men in our congregation through educational programs and social events. Men's Club conducts the annual Purim Carnival and Men's Club Shabbat. Social events include a "spaghetti feed" following Mitzvah Day, a Super Bowl party and an annual trip to the Gold Country. Men's Club Retreats focus on a topic of interest to the members (e.g., ethics in the workplace). Men's Club membership is free to men who are in their first year of synagogue membership... more info
Jewish youth entering the 5th grade can become members of Junior Kadima, moving on to Senior Kadima when they enter 7th grade and USY in high school. Under the auspices of the United Synagogue of America, Beth David supports Kadima and USY. Being Jewish is required for youth group membership, but synagogue affiliation is not. All three groups offer organized activities at Beth David and other locations throughout the year. Activities focus on social interaction with Jewish peers, social action, religious studies and fundraising. Most events are held on weekends, while Junior Kadima meets after Religious School one Sunday per month...

The high school age affiliate of The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, United Synagogue Youth (USY) helps Jewish teens build friendships and enjoy educational and social programs at Beth David and around the world, transforming Jewish leaders for the next generation. Students in grades 9 through 12 are eligible for membership. Each USY chapter (ours is called "SAUSY," for "Saratoga USY") has several important portfolios for action. The Religion and Education component includes learning about and practicing Conservative Judaism in an atmosphere of open discussion and tolerance. The Social Action-Tikkun Olam component develops an awareness of ways to repair the world, and designs events to put this commitment into action. The Membership committee works to build a strong chapter and increase the involvement of its members. The Communications group produces our newsletter ("SAUSY Sauce"). Chapter members are encouraged to attend regional and international USY conventions, and dues help support both chapter events and national USY goals... more info
Each Havurah is a small community of congregants who meet in each other's homes to study, socialize, and observe holidays, and celebrate Jewish life together. Havurot can be formed of families, couples or individuals who share common interests and the desire to develop an extended family within the Beth David community. The purpose of a Havurah is to provide a complement to the social, religious and education activities offered by the synagogue, and to create a comfortable group within which to experience the wide variety of Beth David's programs. In order to receive the greatest joy and benefit of havurah membership, each participant must be committed to support the activities and development of the Havurah. Participation in a Beth David Havurah is open to all members... more info
