Daniel Pressman
Rabbi
Daniel Pressman was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.
He is a third generation Conservative Jew, the son of a Conservative
rabbi. He attended Camp Ramah in California and was active in USY.
He graduated from UCLA, while also attending the University of Judaism,
and then was ordained at the Jewish Theological Seminary. He served
Congregation Ner Tamid in Palos Verdes, California for seven years,
and has been the rabbi of Congregation Beth David since 1981. He
has served as President of the Pacific Northwest Region of the Rabbinical
Assembly, Chairman of the Rabbinic Association of Greater San Jose,
the Executive Board of the Rabbinic Cabinet of the United Jewish
Appeal, the national Board of the United Synagogue for Conservative
Judaism, and the national Executive Council of the Rabbinical Assembly,
as well as numerous local boards and committees.
He is the author, with Rabbi Ronald Isaacs, of two prayer books
for youth worship, one for the High Holy Days and one for Shabbat.
He was the author for six years of "Torah Sparks," a weekly discussion
guide to the Torah portion published by the United Synagogue, which
was used by many synagogues in North and South America. He is married
to Beverly Auerbach Pressman, and they have three children: Aliza,
Benjamin, and Rebecca. |

Rabbi
Aaron Schonbrun
Rabbi Aaron Schonbrun grew up in San Diego and was very active in Camp Ramah and USY. Rabbi Schonbrun graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with BA’s in Psychology and Jewish/Near Eastern Studies. He was ordained from the Jewish Theological Seminary in May 2004 where he also received a Masters Degree from the William Davidson School of Education. During his last two years in Rabbinical school, he served as the student Rabbi of the Project Mishpacha program of Congregation Beth El, in Baltimore, Maryland. He spent his last year serving as a chaplain at Roosevelt Hospital in New York. Rabbi Schonbrun’s wife, Jane-Rachel, is a Baltimore native and is currently working as the Director of Student Life at Kehillah High School.
Rabbi and Jane-Rachel Schonbrun arrived at Congregation Beth David in August 2004. Rabbi Schonbrun shares overall congregational responsibilities with Rabbi Pressman and focuses much of his programming on young adults and families with young children. He also teaches adult education courses, helps out in the religious school, works with the youth groups, and teaches in the Hebrew High school. Rabbi Schonbrun is thrilled to have found such a warm and welcoming community at Beth David and looks forward to continuing the shared work of building holy community in the years to come. |
